Casio is a company that has its roots in electronics. The Japanese officially began marketing products in 1957 after developing the first compact electronic calculator (not compact at all by todays standards it was about the size of a typewriter). It wasn't until 1974 that Casio began manufacturing watches. They were one of the first companies to produce watches with a quartz movement and a digital readout.
